Work with Shane
I'm Shane. I help people and organizations build better relationships with technology.
Most of what I do is unglamorous. Networks that stay up. Documentation that outlives whoever wrote it. Vendor bills that make sense. I bring an infrastructure-first lens to all of it, because I grew up in the telephone network and never really left.

How I start
With an assessment. No charge, no commitment.
Before I quote anything, I want to see what you actually have. Network, workstations, licensing, phones, domain and website, backups, A/V. At the end, you get a written summary of what's healthy, what's at risk, and what you're overpaying for. That includes anything I think you should stop buying, whether or not I'm the one you keep.
Then you decide the scope, and we both decide whether it's a fit. If it isn't, the findings are still yours.

What I help with
General IT support. Workstations, accounts, email administration, licensing, the day-to-day.
Networks. Design, troubleshooting, wireless, fixed wireless, fiber, and copper. The parts nobody wants to look at.
Telephony. SIP, legacy copper, and migrations that don't break the way people actually work.
Domains, DNS, and hosting. Including finding out who genuinely controls your domain, which is more often a mystery than it should be.
A/V and broadcast systems. Streaming, sound, the room.
Vendor and contract review. Most organizations I see are paying for more than they need. Sometimes considerably more.
Documentation. So you're never dependent on one person knowing where things are. That includes me.

Who I work with
Small businesses, churches, nonprofits, camps, and community organizations, mostly around the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes. Remote where it makes sense.
I price by mission, not by client. I bill commercial work at my standard rate. Churches, nonprofits, and community organizations get a rate that reflects what they are and what they can carry. If the work matters and the budget is small, say so and we'll figure something out. I have been paid in film before.

What I'm not
I'm not a managed service provider, and I'm not trying to become one. No lock-in, no hardware marked up to pad an invoice, and I won't sell you something you don't need in order to justify a contract. If the right answer is a thing you can do yourself, I'll show you how.
The best technology stays open, understandable, and in human hands. That's the whole thing. If that's your thing, get in touch!
